Welcome to RUHS Ghost Athletics
With a return to in-person learning at middle and high schools across Vermont comes a return to Winter sports. Please read the latest protocols and regulations governing Winter sports from the Vermont Principals Association here: VPA COVID19 Guidelines Winter 20-21
The VPA has no decision on the postponement or cancellation of any spring sports at this time. “We will be in contact with school officials, health officials and athletic directors regarding the most reasonable and safe path forward regarding spring sports and any additional VPA hosted or monitored gatherings this spring,” the VPA said in. More:VPA: High school fall sports will have delayed start due to COVID-19 School vs. Summer sports On July 1, competition returned to Vermont for the first time since COVID-19 hit with full force.

RUHS Bass Fishing Team Returns to the Podium
The RUHS Bass Fishing Team returned to the podium this past Saturday, October 3d, taking home the Vermont runner-up award at the VPA Bass Fishing State Championships on Lake Champlain.
In the three years the VPA has held this championship, the RU team has gotten pretty comfortable on the winner’s podium, as they have finished in 1st or 2nd place in all three competitions.

This year’s derby featured the largest field yet with 18 schools competing. RU’s team reeled in 6 fish totaling a weight of 18.74 lbs, beating out 3rd place Essex whose 6 fish totaled 18.67 lbs, but falling short of White River Valley’s total of 22.93 lbs.
This year’s anglers were Chase Martin and Brendan Vinton, with Anthony Vinton serving as boat captain during the competition. Also on the team were Blake Baker, Joey Ferris, and Landon Campbell.
About RU Athletics Athletics are an important component of the RUHS experience and its athletic programs are designed to help students develop sportsmanship, school spirit, and good physical health. Because of the wide range of athletic programs offered at the school, students are provided with the opportunity to work towards excellence in several areas of athletic interest. RUHS athletes play in the Northern Vermont Athletic Conference.
RUHS offers varsity and junior varsity boys’ and girls’ athletic clubs, as well as programs geared to students at the junior high school level.
